Indirect Wealth in the Hour: A Complete Table and the Jia-Xu Distinction
Indirect Wealth in the Hour means the Day Master’s Indirect Wealth appears in the Hour Pillar, either exposed or hidden. The source contrasts Wu-Chen and Jia-Xu hours for Jia: Wu-Chen exposes Wu Wealth, while Jia-Xu hides Wu in Xu and exposes Jia Peer.
Which valid hours expose Indirect Wealth for each Day Master?
This table derives every exposed-Indirect-Wealth hour from the Ten God (one of ten traditional relationship labels defined relative to the birth-day element) relation and day-to-hour stem (the upper symbol in the birth-hour column) rule: twelve valid Hour Pillars. It covers exposure only, not every hidden-Wealth hour or all conditions of the classical pattern.
| Day Master | Indirect Wealth stem | Valid exposed-Wealth Hour Pillars |
|---|---|---|
| Jia (甲) | Wu (戊) | Wu-Chen (戊辰) |
| Yi (乙) | Ji (己) | Ji-Mao (己卯) |
| Bing (丙) | Geng (庚) | Geng-Yin (庚寅) |
| Ding (丁) | Xin (辛) | Xin-Chou (辛丑), Xin-Hai (辛亥) |
| Wu (戊) | Ren (壬) | Ren-Zi (壬子), Ren-Xu (壬戌) |
| Ji (己) | Gui (癸) | Gui-You (癸酉) |
| Geng (庚) | Jia (甲) | Jia-Shen (甲申) |
| Xin (辛) | Yi (乙) | Yi-Wei (乙未) |
| Ren (壬) | Bing (丙) | Bing-Wu (丙午) |
| Gui (癸) | Ding (丁) | Ding-Si (丁巳) |
Why is Jia’s Xu hour Jia-Xu rather than Wu-Xu?
A Jia day starts at Jia-Zi hour, reaches Wu-Chen at Chen, and Jia-Xu at Xu. Wu-Xu is a valid cycle pillar, but is not Xu hour on a Jia day: Day and Hour Stems must agree.
Chen contains Wu, Yi and Gui: Jia’s Indirect Wealth, Rob Wealth and Direct Resource. Xu contains Wu, Xin and Ding: Indirect Wealth, Officer and Hurting Officer. Jia-Xu has hidden Wealth even though it does not expose it; changing the Hour Stem to make both examples look alike would be wrong.
Does one Wealth position mean exactly one Wealth character?
The passage emphasizes the hour and cautions against repeated Wealth elsewhere, distinguishing exposure from hidden content. List exposed Wealth, repeated hidden stems (the additional element symbols traditionally assigned inside each lower chart symbol) and Direct/Indirect Wealth separately rather than merely counting characters.
The placement still needs roots and support for the self, effective Wealth, and an account of authority, Resource (the role family that supports the birth-day element, often interpreted through learning and support) and competing peers. More Wealth markers do not directly mean more income, and peers do not prove that relatives will take money.
What do Xin, Ren/Gui, Geng and Yi mean in the Jia example?
Xin is Jia’s Officer, Ren/Gui its Indirect/Direct Resource, Geng its Killings and Yi its Rob Wealth. Resource can support Wood, authority controls Wood, and Earth Wealth can generate Metal or control Water. The roles do not all work in one direction.
The passage favors certain support and avoids particular competition or disruptive contacts. Turning that into Officer always good and Killings always bad discards strength, position and mediation.
Does Hour Wealth guarantee later-life wealth or investment gains?
No. Traditional associations between the hour and later life are not retirement-asset forecasts. Indirect Wealth does not measure investment returns, gambling luck or side-business income.
Its value for a report reader is to locate exposed versus hidden Wealth, catch an incompatible Hour Pillar and identify missing conditions. Actual financial choices depend on income, costs, skills and risk capacity.
