Resource in the Hour: Jia-Zi, Hidden Gui and Xin Officer
Resource in the Hour looks at Resource support carried by the Hour Pillar. The example is a Jia day at Zi hour: hidden Gui Water generates Jia Wood as Direct Resource. The complete Hour Pillar is Jia-Zi, whose exposed Jia is Peer rather than Resource.
What do the two characters of Jia-Zi contribute?
Hour Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-hour column) Jia matches the Day Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-day column) and is Peer. Zi contains Gui Direct Resource. Exposure and hidden content should be described separately so that Resource in the hour is not mistaken for a Gui Hour Stem.
| Position | Participant | Role for Jia |
|---|---|---|
| Day Stem | Jia | Reference |
| Hour Stem | Jia | Peer |
| Inside Zi | Gui | Direct Resource |
| Additionally sought in Year or Month | Xin | Officer |
Why does the passage also seek Xin in Year or Month?
Xin Metal generates Gui Water, which generates Jia Wood, giving an Officer–Resource–self route. Xin is Jia’s Officer and Gui its Resource; a vague benefactor label does not explain these steps.
Jia-Zi hour establishes the hidden Resource placement, not the presence of Xin in Year or Month or the effectiveness of the whole route. Roots, season and other contacts require the actual chart.
Are Wealth controlling Resource and a Zi–Wu clash the same?
No. Wu/Ji Earth are Wealth (the role family controlled by the birth-day element, often interpreted through resources and practical demands) for Jia and can control Gui Water; Wu-Horse clashes with Zi as a branch relation. Both may concern Resource support, but they involve different participants and mechanisms.
The passage’s northwest and southeast timing directions are traditional phase correspondences, not relocation advice. A timing interpretation needs actual stems and branches rather than a geographical prediction.
Does Hour Resource predict later life or children?
Traditional palace readings associate the hour with later life and children, while Resource evokes learning and shelter. Combining those symbols does not establish a child’s ability, educational outcome or later-life security.
Use this explanation to locate the proposed support, identify any Officer feeding it and distinguish competing contacts. Real opportunities, family support and retirement arrangements depend on actual circumstances.
