Eating God in the Same Nest: Shared Branches, the Thirteenth Place and Examples
Eating God (a traditional role associated with creativity, expression and enjoyment) in the Same Nest pairs an Eating God stem relation with a shared branch. In the source example, Jia-Zi meets Bing-Zi: Jia generates Bing as Eating God and both pillars use Zi. It is not simply two Eating Gods or a score for artistic talent.
Find the Eating God stem, then check the shared branch
Same-polarity generation gives the table below. It identifies the stem relation only; the two pillars must also share a branch and the reference pillar must be stated. The historical passage can start from the Year Pillar rather than always the Day Master.
| Reference stem | Its Eating God stem |
|---|---|
| Jia (甲) | Bing (丙) |
| Yi (乙) | Ding (丁) |
| Bing (丙) | Wu (戊) |
| Ding (丁) | Ji (己) |
| Wu (戊) | Geng (庚) |
| Ji (己) | Xin (辛) |
| Geng (庚) | Ren (壬) |
| Xin (辛) | Gui (癸) |
| Ren (壬) | Jia (甲) |
| Gui (癸) | Yi (乙) |
How is the thirteenth place counted?
Count Jia-Zi as first and Bing-Zi is thirteenth: an advance of twelve steps. Twelve steps cycle the branch back to the same place and advance the stem by two, giving Jia–Bing, Yi–Ding and the other same-polarity generating pairs.
This cycle relation is a derivable lookup, not a sixty-row catalogue printed in the passage. It establishes the shared branch and Eating God relation, not seasonal strength, Lu or real outcomes. Reversing Bing to Jia gives Indirect Resource (a traditional role associated with specialized learning and unconventional insight), not another Eating God.
Why do the three source examples need different reference pillars?
The table preserves the source charts and identifies directly visible same-nest pairs. The first two use a Year-Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-year column) reference, while the third has a clear day/hour pair. Fixing that reference prevents false Day-Master labels.
| Source pillars: Year, Month, Day, Hour | Shared-branch pair | Relation |
|---|---|---|
| 戊申、庚申、庚辰、庚辰 | Year Wu-Shen → Month Geng-Shen | Geng is Wu’s Eating God; both Shen |
| 庚午、己丑、乙卯、壬午 | Year Geng-Wu → Hour Ren-Wu | Ren is Geng’s Eating God; both Wu-Horse |
| 乙亥、辛巳、戊申、庚申 | Day Wu-Shen → Hour Geng-Shen | Geng is Wu’s Eating God; both Shen |
Why examine position, strength and Lu after finding a pair?
The source gives a progression from Month to Day to Hour and also values support, Lu and exchange relations. These are additional considerations, not permission to invent a missing Lu branch or participant from one matching pair.
All three examples have compatible year/month and day/hour sequences under the common rules. Their presence in the source does not establish that matching the pair produces the same achievements.
What is same-nest Indirect Resource, and is it identical?
No. The passage separately gives Jia-Zi year with Ren-Zi hour, and Geng-Zi year with Wu-Zi hour. Ren is Jia’s Indirect Resource and Wu Geng’s Indirect Resource; the shared branch supplies the analogy. These are not Eating God pairs.
The source’s attached claims about children and fortune are not real-world findings. This page clarifies direction, Year-versus-Day references and shared branches; Eating God imagery of expression, output and enjoyment still needs its actual relations explained.
