Tiger and Ox toward Si: Yin/Chou, the Heading Variant and Two Source Cases

Tiger and Ox toward Si refers to Yin the tiger and Chou the ox, used with a Xin or Gui Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference) to invoke Officer (the role family that controls the birth-day element, often interpreted through rules and demands) in Si. Both consulted headings read Tiger-Horse, while the conditions concern Yin and Chou. This page uses the recognizable Tiger-Ox name and preserves that discrepancy.

How do Yin and Chou relate to Si in this account?

Yin connects to Si through punishment language, while Chou relates to Si through the Metal-trine group; the text then says an additional You improves retention. Bing in Si is Officer for Xin, Wu in Si Officer for Gui.

This does not mean Yin and Chou directly punish each other or that Chou–Si is a standard Six Combination. Their roles in the sentence should not create new basic branch relations.

Do either of the two source examples contain You?

Both examples contain Yin and Chou and neither contains You. Additional You being favorable should not become an absolute requirement absent from the source cases, nor replace a missing Yin or Chou.

Source: Year, Month, Day, HourDay MasterYin/Chou positionsYou present?
Ren-Xu (壬戌), Xin-Hai (辛亥), Xin-Chou (辛丑), Geng-Yin (庚寅)XinChou day, Yin hourNo
Jia-Xu (甲戌), Xin-Wei (辛未), Gui-Chou (癸丑), Jia-Yin (甲寅)GuiChou day, Yin hourNo

Do the actual Hour Stems and hidden stems still matter?

Yes. Xin’s Yin hour is Geng-Yin, with Geng Rob Wealth (a traditional role associated with shared resources, cooperation and competition); Gui’s is Jia-Yin, with Jia Hurting Officer (a traditional role associated with independent expression and questioning rules). Gui already has actual Wu Officer hidden in Yin, so the entire chart is not Officer-free. Both year/month pairings also fit the common calendar rules.

The passage cautions against Shen and Si: Shen clashes with source Yin, while actual Si fills the target. Clear ordinary Wealth (the role family controlled by the birth-day element, often interpreted through resources and practical demands)/authority relations still need explanation.

Does the heading variant change a person’s qualities?

No. It is a textual naming issue, not a change of zodiac sign or evidence about temperament, ambition or status.

The useful result is knowing that the conditions concern Yin/Chou rather than Yin/Wu-Horse, with the supported relations and heading uncertainty both visible.
