Six Ren Approaching Gen: Yin Hour, Implicit Lu and a Source-Hour Conflict
Six Ren Approaching Gen relates a Ren day to Yin hour, using Yin’s directional symbolism. One account invokes Hai Lu; another reads Jia Output (the role family produced by the birth-day element, often interpreted through expression and activity) nourishing Bing Wealth (the role family controlled by the birth-day element, often interpreted through resources and practical demands) in actual Yin. The consulted text says Jia-Yin hour, but the standard hour calculation gives Ren-Yin on a Ren day. That conflict must remain visible.
How is Yin hour calculated on a Ren day?
Ding and Ren days begin with Geng-Zi, followed by Xin-Chou and Ren-Yin. All six Ren days therefore share Ren-Yin hour. This establishes the calculated hour without claiming a completed textual correction from Jia to Ren.
| Day | Calculated hour | Consulted opening |
|---|---|---|
| Ren-Shen (壬申) | Ren-Yin (壬寅) | Jia-Yin: conflicts with hour calculation |
| Ren-Wu (壬午) | Ren-Yin (壬寅) | Jia-Yin: conflicts with hour calculation |
| Ren-Chen (壬辰) | Ren-Yin (壬寅) | Jia-Yin: conflicts with hour calculation |
| Ren-Yin (壬寅) | Ren-Yin (壬寅) | Jia-Yin: conflicts with hour calculation |
| Ren-Zi (壬子) | Ren-Yin (壬寅) | Jia-Yin: conflicts with hour calculation |
| Ren-Xu (壬戌) | Ren-Yin (壬寅) | Jia-Yin: conflicts with hour calculation |
What can be read from actual Yin without invocation?
Yin contains Jia, Bing and Wu: Ren’s Eating God, Indirect Wealth and Killings. Ren in the actual Ren-Yin Hour Stem is a Peer. Jia nourishing Bing provides a local Output-to-Wealth relation, while Wu Killings and Ren’s support still matter.
The passage particularly names Ren-Yin and Ren-Chen and discusses repeated Yin. That does not make every Ren day equivalent or remove the need to read season and Water roots.
How do the Hai-Lu and Officer/Resource routes differ?
The first route uses Yin–Hai combination to invoke absent Hai, Ren’s Lu. Actual Hai instead requires a reading of real roots and the real contact, without adding another hidden Hai.
The other passage invokes Ji through Jia and Xin through Bing: two Five Combinations. Ji is Ren’s Officer (the role family that controls the birth-day element, often interpreted through rules and demands) and Xin Direct Resource (a traditional role associated with learning, care and dependable support). The Siku transcription reads Si-Earth here, while the parallel text explicitly has Ji-Earth. This should not become Wu Officer in Si: Wu is actually Ren’s Killings.
Which conditions belong to the specific route?
Hai filling concerns the first route. Shen clashing Yin and Geng controlling Jia affect the actual source. The other passage names Wu-Horse combination, relating to Yin/Wu in the Fire group; it is not Wu Earth combining Ren, which is not a Five Combination.
Explain useful actual Wealth and authority before invoking additional ones. Approaching Gen is positional terminology, not advice to move northeast or evidence of wealth or intelligence.
