Wind and Cloud Celebration: Ten Three-Day Segments and Their Stems
Wind and Cloud Celebration divides days 1–30 into ten three-day segments, each associated with a stem or branch; days 1–3 use Jia or Yin. Those are three days sharing one segment, not Jia, Yi and Bing on successive days. The passage does not specify the calendar or matching chart positions, so it cannot directly classify a Gregorian birthday.
What corresponds to each of the ten three-day segments?
The table follows the Siku reading, with the Si/Ji variation for days 13–15 explained below. The source’s or is retained rather than rewritten as requiring both stem and branch.
| Day segment | Stem | Or associated branch |
|---|---|---|
| 1–3 | Jia | Yin |
| 4–6 | Yi | Mao |
| 7–9 | Bing | Si |
| 10–12 | Ding | Wu |
| 13–15 | Wu | Si |
| 16–18 | Ji | Wu |
| 19–21 | Geng | Shen |
| 22–24 | Xin | You |
| 25–27 | Ren | Hai |
| 28–30 | Gui | Zi |
Why do the branches resemble the Lu positions?
In this reading, the ten stems run Jia through Gui and each branch matches its stem’s Lu: Jia at Yin, Wu at Si and Ji at Wu, for example. That correspondence does not supply the unstated date convention.
For days 13–15, the Siku text reads Wu or Si while the parallel transcription reads Wu or Ji. Si is a branch; Ji is a stem. The table follows Siku’s Si, consistent with Wu’s Lu, while keeping the textual difference explicit.
What is missing before this can be applied to a birthday?
The day number needs a calendar convention, with handling for short months, leap months, month ends and day boundaries. The list stops at 30; a rule for day 31 cannot be invented or borrowed from another segment.
The chart position in which Jia, Yin or another target is sought also needs to be defined. The favorable closing phrase about Jia/Yi with Yin/Mao does not make all preceding segments exclusively Day-stem (the upper symbol in the birth-day column) or Hour-branch (the lower symbol in the birth-hour column) tests.
What can the table help a reader do now?
It clarifies the segmentation and helps detect misquoting of the three-day grouping, or wording, Si/Ji variation or Lu correspondences. A personal application would require the additional conventions to be stated.
The name describes historical symbolism, not weather or the value and prospects of people born on particular dates. An unexplained calendar and position policy cannot support a definite personal verdict.
