Tripod Foundation: Five Ways to Read Trines, Wonders, Horse and Nayin
Tripod Foundation uses a three-legged vessel as an image for a branch trine. The source adds several different counterparts: Three Wonders, Horse, a Horse-related combination, associated stems or home-element Nayin (a separate named element classification for a complete pair of chart symbols). The trine is the shared starting point, but the additional evidence is not interchangeable.
What does each of the five routes add?
The source routes are kept separate; characters from one account cannot complete another by substitution.
| Route | Additional evidence | Source illustration |
|---|---|---|
| Three Wonders | An actual Three-Wonders stem group | Yi/Bing/Ding or Jia/Wu/Geng with a branch trine |
| One Horse | The relevant Horse branch | Shen/Zi/Chen with Yin; Si/You/Chou with Hai |
| Horse combination | A branch combining with the derived Horse | Yin/Wu/Xu gives Shen Horse; Si combines with Shen |
| Associated stems | Stems matching the trine element | Jia/Yi with Hai/Mao/Wei; Bing/Ding with Yin/Wu/Xu |
| Home element | Complete pillars with the relevant Nayin | Fire Nayin in the Fire group; Wood Nayin in the Wood group |
Which three pillars illustrate the home-Nayin account?
Complete pillars are required: branch membership alone does not establish Nayin. These are three-pillar groups, not complete four-position birth data.
| Trine | Given pillars | Nayin |
|---|---|---|
| Yin/Wu/Xu Fire | Bing-Yin (丙寅), Wu-Wu (戊午), Jia-Xu (甲戌) | Furnace Fire, Heavenly Fire, Mountain-Top Fire |
| Hai/Mao/Wei Wood | Ji-Hai (己亥), Xin-Mao (辛卯), Gui-Wei (癸未) | Flatland Wood, Pine/Cypress Wood, Willow Wood |
Must Yin, Wu, Xu, Si and Shen all be actual natal branches?
Four natal pillars have only four branch positions. Yin/Wu/Xu plus Si already fill them; Shen can be the Horse target derived from that trine, not a fifth natal branch. Any fetal or timing-layer contribution would need separate labeling.
In the actual-Horse route, Yin clashes with Shen in Shen/Zi/Chen, and Hai clashes with Si in Si/You/Chou. Horse presence does not remove those clashes or settle the source’s support conditions.
Why is Horse changing its head not a complete trine?
This separate variant has the Horse present while one original trine member is absent. The table lists its three key branches, without altering any other actual position.
| Original trine | Horse | Missing member | Key branches present |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yin/Wu/Xu | Shen | Yin | Wu, Xu, Shen |
| Hai/Mao/Wei | Si | Hai | Mao, Wei, Si |
| Shen/Zi/Chen | Yin | Shen | Zi, Chen, Yin |
| Si/You/Chou | Hai | Si | You, Chou, Hai |
What makes this named account useful to read?
Choose the route, then list the actual trine, stems, Horse reference or complete Nayin. Leave missing evidence visibly missing instead of assembling every route into one favorable label.
Traditional lifespan and rank claims in the text do not establish health or life outcomes. The checkable structure is useful; the tripod image is not an achievement guarantee.
