Tiger Crouching in Dragon Pavilion: Geng-Shen and Xin-Mao Positions
Tiger Crouching in Dragon Pavilion uses Geng-Shen as the natal reference, with Xin-Mao at Day or Hour and repeated Xin-Mao in its explanation. Tiger here does not mean the Yin branch, nor does Dragon Pavilion require Chen. The two complete pillars are the key references.
Why not reduce the rule to Shen and Mao?
Other Shen pillars can have different Nayin (a separate named element classification for a complete pair of chart symbols) from Geng-Shen, as can other Mao pillars from Xin-Mao. The specified complete pillars should not be replaced by arbitrary Geng/Xin stems or Shen/Mao branches.
| Pillar | Stem element | Nayin | Source role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geng-Shen (庚申) | Geng Metal | Pomegranate Wood | Natal reference, White Tiger’s home |
| Xin-Mao (辛卯) | Xin Metal | Pine/Cypress Wood | Specified Day/Hour target; repetition also discussed |
What can repeated Xin-Mao look like in actual positions?
A synthetic chart is Geng-Shen, Ji-Mao, Xin-Mao, Xin-Mao, with compatible calendar pairs. It puts Geng-Shen at Year and Xin-Mao at both Day and Hour. This is an illustration, not a source biography or a complete chart assessment.
The opening mentions Xin-Mao at Day/Hour and the explanation mentions repetition without fully defining every minimum count. Record one versus multiple occurrences accurately rather than silently dropping the repetition.
Can Geng-Shen as the Day take Xin-Mao Hour directly?
No. Geng Day’s Mao Hour is Ji-Mao. The synthetic example works because its Day is Xin-Mao, and Xin Day’s Mao Hour is Xin-Mao. Substituting Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference) for the natal reference changes the calendar relationship.
Where a full chart is absent, retain the source’s reference and target positions rather than altering actual Day/Hour data to fit the name.
What do shared Wood Nayin and Metal stems establish?
They identify similarities on two different layers, not a combination: Shen/Mao is not a Six Combination and Geng/Xin is not a Five Combination.
White Tiger and Dragon Pavilion are names within this account, not a general White Tiger marker or evidence of reputation, office or personality. The useful result is a clear explanation of pillars and positions.
