Follow Seven Killings: Why Weakness and Many Killings Are Not Enough

Follow Seven Killings (a traditional role associated with challenge, pressure and decisive action) is a special way of reading a chart in which the Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference) has virtually no effective roots or sustaining support, while the controlling Killings side dominates. The reading follows that force. This describes a chart relationship, not a person’s duty to obey others, and a high count of Killings alone does not establish it.

First identify Seven Killings relative to the Day Master

Seven Killings is the controlling stem with the same polarity (whether a symbol is classified as yin or yang) as the Day Master. This table identifies the relationship; it does not imply that every tradition permits every Day Master to follow it.

Which three questions matter most?

First, does the authority side dominate through season, roots and actual interactions? One unsupported exposed Killing differs from well-rooted autumn Metal facing a Wood Day Master.

Second, does the Day Master retain effective support through roots, fellow stems or Resource (the role family that supports the birth-day element, often interpreted through learning and support)? A small count is not a reason to ignore it. Third, does another force create a different route, such as Resource receiving the Killings influence and supporting the self, or Eating God (a traditional role associated with creativity, expression and enjoyment) controlling Killings?

Why don’t four Yi-You pillars automatically establish following?

Synthetic illustration: Yi-You Year, Month, Day and Hour. The calendar pairings are compatible, but this is not a verified birthday. Each You contains Xin, the Seven Killings of Yi, and none provides a Wood root.

Yet the exposed stems include three fellow Yi besides the Day Master. The strict Sanming Tonghui account excludes Peer (a traditional role associated with independence and relationships among equals) and Resource support. A reading cannot cite that rule while silently ignoring three Yi. Having no Wood root is different from having no same-side support.

How does this differ from ordinary Killings and Killings–Resource?

An ordinary Seven Killings Pattern examines the month command (the seasonal conditions represented by the birth month) and how Killings is moderated; the Day Master may have roots and support. Killings–Resource describes a chain from Killings to Resource to the self. Following begins from the inability to sustain an independent side. The shared Killings label does not make these methods interchangeable.

Source differences matter too: the Siku following passage excludes Yang Wood and distinguishes Yin from Yang stems, while Di Tian Sui’s following account centers on actual isolation and support. These should not be combined into a supposedly universal numerical threshold.

What does the distinction help you understand?

It explains why two readings may disagree about a supportive element: one reads ordinary weakness as needing support, while the other first assumes a following structure. Check the roots, Resource, fellow stems and dominant side rather than choosing the more impressive title.

Incomplete evidence calls for an unresolved classification. Following is not a test of leadership, character or career suitability, and it does not ask you to surrender personal judgment.
