Four Nurture One: One Metal Generating Four Water Positions

The verse allows both four Nayin (a separate named element classification for a complete pair of chart symbols) positions generating one and one position generating four. Its example uses the latter: Xin-Hai’s Metal Nayin generates Water Nayin at four other positions. The five positions include Fetus; this does not create a fifth natal pillar.

Where are the one Metal and four Water positions?

Gui-Si, Gui-Hai, Xin-Hai and Ren-Chen have compatible calendar pairings. The source explicitly adds Jia-Yin Fetus, giving the following Nayin distribution.

PositionPillarNayinElement
YearGui-Si (癸巳)Long-Flowing WaterWater
MonthGui-Hai (癸亥)Great-Ocean WaterWater
DayXin-Hai (辛亥)Hairpin MetalMetal
HourRen-Chen (壬辰)Long-Flowing WaterWater
FetusJia-Yin (甲寅)Great-Stream WaterWater

Can the generating arrow be reversed between the two accounts?

No. Metal generates Water, so the example is one Metal generating four Water positions. Water does not generate Metal in reverse. A four-to-one illustration would need, for instance, four Water positions generating one Wood position; that is a directional illustration, not another source birth chart.

Year and Hour share Long-Flowing Water but remain two positions. Counting positions differs from counting unique Nayin names or assigning extra weight to repeated words.

How is Jia-Yin Fetus obtained, and why label it separately?

Advancing Gui-Hai Month’s stem by one and branch by three gives Jia-Yin, matching the stated fetal pillar. It is a traditional derived position, not an observed conception time.

Without Fetus, the natal chart (the chart calculated for the birth moment) has three Water Nayin positions and one Metal. The fourth Water position appears only when Fetus is included; it should not be described as already among the four natal pillars.

Does one Metal and four Water Nayin remove the other actual elements?

No. Si contains Bing/Wu/Geng, including Fire and Earth; Hai has Ren/Jia, and Chen Wu/Yi/Gui. Nayin does not overwrite those actual components.

The source allows other support to modify the account without supplying a measurable rank or wealth score. The useful explanation identifies positions, generation direction and the Nayin layer, not a career prediction.
