Complete Five Elements: Why Having All Five Does Not Establish Balance

Complete Five Elements asks whether all five phases are present across specified positions and one classification layer. This is more particular than simply counting five labels in a modern chart. Completeness does not establish equal strength, mutual support or a life without unmet needs.

Why does one method count the fetal pillar while another rejects it?

The opening allows year/month/day/hour/fetal positions through true qi or Nayin (a separate named element classification for a complete pair of chart symbols). The same passage quotes Hu Zhong Zi opposing the addition of fetal-month Nayin merely to complete the set. These counting policies are incompatible.

True qi has a specific birth-year reference here, not simply a hidden-stem (an additional element symbol traditionally assigned inside a lower chart symbol) count. State the classification and fetal-pillar policy before judging completeness; an undefined policy cannot yield a clear result.

How do the three examples complete the set under five-position Nayin?

All three birth charts pass calendar-pair checks. On the Nayin layer alone, each four-pillar set lacks one phase and the stated fetal pillar supplies it. The ordinary stem/branch layer may already contain that phase.

Does adding Fire through the fetal pillar mean natal Fire was absent?

In the first chart, both day and hour stems are Ding Fire and Si contains Bing Fire. Fire is absent only from the four Nayin labels. Calling the person Fire-deficient would mix evidence layers.

Wu-Chen to Ji-Wei, Jia-Wu to Yi-You and Xin-Chou to Ren-Chen match the convention of advancing the month stem (the upper symbol in the birth-month column) one and branch three places. That convention does not measure conception, and those positions cannot be added to a method that excludes them.

What remains to examine after all five are present?

The source still requires qi and support rather than unsupported decline or extinction. Complete labels, seasonal strength and useful relationships differ; the alternate Five Storehouses name does not mean every storage branch is physically present.

Use the distinction to ask for the classification and evidence of support. One missing label is not automatically a defect, and adding one does not establish better income, health or relationships.
