Crouching Green Dragon: Five Wood Days and Their Metal Relationships
Crouching Green Dragon names five Wood Day Pillars: Jia-Shen, Jia-Xu, Yi-Si, Yi-You and Yi-Chou. The Green Dragon is an eastern Wood image; the discussion concerns Wood in relation to Metal. It directs attention to Wood’s support and Metal’s controlling role, rather than deriving a life story from one pillar.
What is actually beneath each of the five days?
The Day Branch is the lower half of a Day Pillar. Its hidden stems receive Ten God roles relative to the Day Master. Officer and Seven Killings both control the Day Master’s phase, but their polarity relationships differ.
| Day Pillar | Actual hidden roles |
|---|---|
| Jia-Shen | Geng Killings, Ren Indirect Resource, Wu Indirect Wealth |
| Jia-Xu | Wu Indirect Wealth, Xin Officer, Ding Hurting Officer |
| Yi-Si | Bing Hurting Officer, Wu Direct Wealth, Geng Officer |
| Yi-You | Xin Killings |
| Yi-Chou | Ji Indirect Wealth, Gui Indirect Resource, Xin Killings |
If my day is Yi-You, what should I look at next?
Yi-You directly supplies Yi Wood and Xin Killings in You. You contains neither Wealth (the role family controlled by the birth-day element, often interpreted through resources and practical demands) nor Officer, so describing the day as both Wealth and Officer would misidentify it.
Next examine the season, Water/Wood support elsewhere, Xin’s roots and any Fire control. Gui Water would introduce a Metal–Water–Wood Resource (the role family that supports the birth-day element, often interpreted through learning and support) route; Ding Fire would be Yi’s Eating God (a traditional role associated with creativity, expression and enjoyment) controlling Xin Killings. These are possible relations, not stems assumed to exist in your chart.
Why can the same Day Pillar lead to different readings?
The source asks for seasonal support, established authority and a workable Metal–Wood relationship. That means examining the whole chart, not declaring equal strength from equal character counts. Ren Resource in Jia-Shen offers one possible generating connection between Metal and Wood.
The passage also cautions against Hurting Officer, yet its own Jia-Xu and Yi-Si days contain Ding and Bing Hurting Officer respectively. That caution cannot erase hidden stems or silently become an exposed-stems-only rule. Placement and effect need explanation.
Is Hidden Green Dragon the same account?
An appended Yi-Si day/hour account called Hidden Green Dragon associates drinking with reduced fortune and lifespan. It is a separate aside, not the definition of the five-day set or evidence for a health prediction.
Use the main entry to identify the day, actual authority and Wealth/Resource roles, and support for Wood. Eastern and dragon imagery is neither a relocation instruction nor the zodiac Dragon.
