Lu Origins Exchange: Four Day–Hour Pairs, Reciprocal Officer and Mutual Lu

Lu Origins Exchange lists four day/hour pairs. Wu-Shen with Yi-Mao clearly lets each stem find Officer (the role family that controls the birth-day element, often interpreted through rules and demands) in the opposite pillar’s branch, but the other pairs should not be assigned that same mechanism without checking. Lu can refer to authority or the life-stage position, depending on the example.

Are all four day/hour pairs calculable?

All four fit the common hour calculation. Calendar compatibility establishes a possible pairing, not one identical reciprocal-Officer explanation for all rows.

DayHourActual distinction
Wu-ShenYi-MaoWu takes Yi Officer in Mao; Yi takes Geng Officer in Shen
Ding-YouRen-YinJia in Yin is Ding Resource; Xin in You is Ren Resource
Bing-ZiGui-SiBing Lu Si and Gui Lu Zi: mutual Lu positions
Geng-ZiDing-HaiDing is Geng Officer but absent from Hai; Gui in Zi is Ding Killings

How is Wu-Shen with Yi-Mao read step by step?

First take Wu as Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference): Yi in Mao is Officer. Then use Hour Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-hour column) Yi as the local second reference: Geng in Shen is its Officer. That explanatory reference does not replace Wu as the birth chart’s Day Master.

The source discusses Ren/Gui Wealth (the role family controlled by the birth-day element, often interpreted through resources and practical demands) nourishing Yi and cautions about Jia Killings, Xin Hurting Officer (a traditional role associated with independent expression and questioning rules), Yin and You. Yin clashes Shen and You clashes Mao; Yin and You do not clash each other.

Do the two examples really lack clashes and harms?

Gui-Hai, Ren-Xu, Bing-Zi, Gui-Si has an actual year-Hai/hour-Si clash. Ji-Wei, Xin-Wei, Bing-Zi, Gui-Si has an actual Zi–Wei harm. Those symbols should not be displayed while claiming the whole chart has no such contacts.

Both charts have compatible calendar pairs and the mutual Bing-Si/Gui-Zi Lu relation. Calendar compatibility, Lu positions and whole-chart clashes/harms are three separate checks.

Which exchange is illustrated by Wu-Wu with Ding-Si?

The closing example Wu-Wu with Ding-Si explicitly uses Lu life stages: Wu’s Lu is Si and Ding’s is Wu-Horse, each in the other branch. It is a separate attested mutual-Lu example outside the opening four-pair list.

This distinction avoids treating exchange as a change to birth pillars or destiny. Keep the actual chart and use the stated local reference to explain the name.
