Mu Sha Explained: Twenty Pairings and Their Difference from Life-stage Tombs

Mu Sha links a Day Master’s Seven Killings stem with the storage branches Chen, Xu, Chou and Wei. Tomb here begins as historical chart terminology, not a prediction of death. The source gives twenty pairings, then adds broader Officer and other-marker accounts that need separate treatment.

Which two pillars are listed for each Day Master?

First identify the Killings stem, then the source’s two encountered pillars. The final column separately gives that stem’s Tomb in the Yang-forward/Yin-reverse stage table, with Earth following Fire. The two systems are not identical.

Why are Geng-Chen and Geng-Xu not both Geng’s Tomb stage?

Geng is at Nurture in Chen and Decline in Xu; its stage-specific Tomb is Chou. The source’s label for the two listed pillars therefore is not a checked Tomb-stage result for Geng.

Likewise, Chen as Water storage belongs to a phase/trine reference. In the individual stem sequence Ren’s Tomb is Chen and Gui’s is Wei. State which reference is being used for Gui rather than mixing them.

Where are Wu Officer and Ji Killings in the Gui-Chou example?

The chart Ji-Si, Wu-Chen, Gui-Chou, Bing-Chen has compatible calendar pairs. Wu Officer is Month Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-month column); Ji Killings is Year Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-year column) and is also hidden in Chou. Both Chen branches contain Wu/Yi/Gui, not Ji.

The text groups Wu/Ji with Chen in its explanation, but the actual Year Pillar (the two-symbol column for the birth year) is Ji-Si. It cannot be rewritten as Ji-Chen, which is not a valid sexagenary pillar either. Keep the real positions before interpreting the broad wording.

Can the appended Gui-day / Wu-Chen-hour account be used literally?

It needs checking: Gui day at Chen gives Bing-Chen, not Wu-Chen. The appended account has an hour-pair conflict and discusses Officer, later extending to Blade and other markers beyond the initial twenty-pair list.

These layers should not become one rule predicting illness, family separation or early death. The entry explains historical terminology and reference differences, not those real-world outcomes.
