Branch Enclosure in Sequence: Two Listed Strings and One Source Chart

Branch Enclosure in Sequence is also called Earthly-Branch Enclosing and Arching here. It discusses the missing position between spaced visible branches, rather than four immediately consecutive branches. The chart still has four natal branches; the invoked gaps do not become additional birth positions.

What do the two listed strings enclose?

The brief definition gives Zi–Yin–Chen–Wu; the full example uses Yin–Chen–Wu–Shen. Both explicitly listed strings should be retained.

Zi-Yin-Chen-WuZi/Yin invoke ChouYin/Chen invoke MaoChen/Wu invoke Si

How does the full source chart work in pillar order?

The example Jia-Yin, Wu-Chen, Bing-Wu, Bing-Shen has compatible calendar pairings and the visible sequence Yin-Chen-Wu-Shen. Mao, Si and Wei are all absent from its four actual branches.

For Bing, invoked Mao would contain Yi Resource; Si would contain Bing Peer, Wu Eating God and Geng Wealth; Wei would contain Ji Hurting Officer, Ding Rob Wealth and Yi Resource. These explain hypothetical roles, not additional natal stem counts.

Is any ordering of the same four branches equivalent?

The three gaps follow the original pillar sequence. Moving Shen to the front changes the chain; sorting the chart to force a match loses the positions being interpreted.

The actual Year Yin and Hour Shen also clash. Invoking Mao, Si and Wei neither cancels that clash nor completes an actual Yin-Wu-Xu Fire trine, since Xu is absent.

What if the supposed missing branch is already present?

Then it is an actual branch, not an extra virtual benefit. Any further rules about use, combinations, clashes or Void need their own stated reference and conditions.

The passage supplies two strings and one full chart rather than every possible cyclic arrangement. Its useful distinction is between placement and invocation, not a guaranteed career, wealth or family outcome.
