Paired Flourishing: Paired Pillars, Alternation and Matching Ends

Paired Flourishing uses a floral image for paired or similar chart arrangements. It is not a test of real sibling relationships. The source includes paired, alternating and matching-end forms, so identify the positions and whether stems, branches or entire pillars are being compared.

What does each account compare?

The core wording pairs year/month stems and day/hour stems and also discusses paired branches, particularly Yin/Mao. The later variants are not a rule that any repetition qualifies.

AccountPositions comparedDistinction to retain
Paired formYear/month pair; day/hour pairCheck stems and branches separately
Jia/Yi alternationJia year, Yi month, Jia day, Yi hourAlternating, not adjacent pairs
Parent-child analogyFire-class year/month and Wood-class day/hourSource also mentions Nayin similarity; reference must be stated
Matching endsYear and hour, such as Jia-Shen at both endsCompare the complete pillar, not just Jia stems

Can compatible pillars illustrate the different shapes?

These synthetic examples have compatible year/month and day/hour pairings, without a verified birth date. They illustrate shape, not every condition of a reading.

Synthetic pillarsMatching featureWhat it does not show
Jia-Xu (甲戌), Jia-Xu (甲戌), Yi-You (乙酉), Yi-You (乙酉)First two full pillars match; last two matchNot the special Yin/Mao image
Jia-Yin (甲寅), Yi-Hai (乙亥), Jia-Zi (甲子), Yi-Chou (乙丑)Alternating Jia-Yi-Jia-Yi stemsBranches are not paired
Jia-Shen (甲申), Wu-Chen (戊辰), Geng-Yin (庚寅), Jia-Shen (甲申)Matching Jia-Shen year and hourNo matching year/month or day/hour pairs

Is the parent-child analogy only a stem-phase comparison?

The text also mentions Nayin similarity, so the reference must distinguish stem phase, branch phase and a complete pillar’s Nayin. They are not the same lookup, and one Fire character does not satisfy them all.

The passage supplies no exhaustive parent-child pillar table. Retaining the concept and its reference requirements is more accurate than inventing one. Parent and child are metaphorical roles, not actual relatives’ birth charts.

What does knowing the name help a reader do?

It lets you identify the pair of positions, type of similarity and chosen account. Alternation can overlap with Two Stems Unmixed, while pairing, Nayin and matching ends give this passage a broader scope.

The floral image does not prove sibling harmony, family prosperity or descendants’ achievements. It describes a chart metaphor; real family relationships require actual experience and context.
