Fortune Convergence: Gathering at the Hour or Tracing Support Outward
Fortune Convergence considers two Hour-centered directions: support gathering at the Hour, or support traced outward from the Hour to other positions. Emperor Seat is a traditional label for the Hour here, not another star. A direction alone is insufficient; the explanation must name the Nayin (a separate named element classification for a complete pair of chart symbols), Lu/Horse or stem–branch relationship involved.
What are the starting point and destination of each route?
The short volume-6 entry points back to the four-pillar discussion. Volume 2 calls the Hour Emperor Seat and describes both gathering there and distribution from it, while keeping all four positions involved.
| Direction | Starting evidence | Next question |
|---|---|---|
| Gathering | Supported Nayin or Lu/Horse and related markers across positions | How does each connect to the Hour? |
| Distribution | The supported or refined qi attributed to the Hour | How do other positions receive it, and what modifies the relation? |
What can first be checked directly in the two source examples?
Both charts pass calendar-pair checks. Their Nayin is listed below, but the source does not work through one as exclusively gathering and the other as distribution. This table checks inputs rather than supplying an unstated classification.
| Source chart | Nayin in pillar order | Initial distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Ren-Zi (壬子), Ren-Zi (壬子), Yi-You (乙酉), Ding-Chou (丁丑) | Mulberry Wood, Mulberry Wood, Spring Water, Ravine Water | Two Wood/two Water; Hour Nayin Water, Day Master Yi Wood |
| Wu-Yin (戊寅), Jia-Yin (甲寅), Ren-Yin (壬寅), Wu-Shen (戊申) | City-Wall Earth, Great-Stream Water, Gold Foil Metal, Great-Post Earth | Earth/Water/Metal/Earth; Hour Nayin and Wu stem both Earth |
Can actual stem/branch relations be omitted once Nayin is named?
For Yi in the first chart, Ren is Direct Resource and Ding Eating God; Chou hides Ji Indirect Wealth, Gui Indirect Resource and Xin Killings. Zi/Chou combines, while You/Chou lacks Si for the complete Metal trine. These are not simply four favorable pillars.
For Ren in the second, Jia is Eating God and Wu Killings. Shen hides Geng Indirect Resource, Ren Peer (a traditional role associated with independence and relationships among equals) and Wu Killings. The three Yin branches clash with Shen. The favorable title cannot erase those relationships or make Earth Nayin another exposed Wu stem.
How can an abstract fortune claim become an understandable explanation?
Ask for a direction, each participating position, its reference and its form of support. A discussion of Shen hidden stems (the additional element symbols traditionally assigned inside each lower chart symbol) should identify Geng/Ren/Wu; one about Wu-Shen Nayin should remain on that layer.
The source associates these structures with character and official life. Those are historical interpretations, not personality measurements or outcome evidence. The useful answer explains the relationship, rather than assigning an unverifiable fortune score.
