Lu Shen in BaZi: ten-stem table, roots and Establishment of Lu

Lu Shen (禄神, sometimes translated Fortune God) is the Day Stem’s Lin Guan stage: Yin for Jia, Mao for Yi, Shen for Geng, and so on. Lu historically evokes an official stipend or established position. In a chart it first identifies a branch, not a salary.

Where is Lu for each Day Stem?

Clarify uses the Day Stem and searches the pillar branches. Bing and Wu share Si, while Ding and Ji share Wu 午 under this Fire–Earth convention. Earth’s seasonal associations do not justify substituting the four storage branches.

When is Jia with Yin Establishment of Lu at the month?

Jia targets Yin. Yin at the hour is a Lu location there; Yin at the Month Branch (the lower symbol in the birth-month column) meets the month condition for Establishment of Lu. A Lu branch anywhere is not automatically a Jian Lu chart pattern.

Yin contains Jia, Bing and Wu: Friend, Eating God and Indirect Wealth for Jia. It includes support, Output and Wealth relationships. Their weight still depends on season and the other pillars.

Why is a root not automatically beneficial?

If the Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference) needs support, the root can matter. When peer energy is already concentrated, the next question is how Output, Wealth or Officer (the role family that controls the birth-day element, often interpreted through rules and demands) relationships handle it. Presence and usefulness are successive questions.

Lu can clarify a report’s language about a footing or base. It cannot guarantee employment, advancement or income; skills, opportunities and working conditions remain separate evidence.
