Red Romance Star: full Hong Yan table and the Peach Blossom difference
Red Romance Star (Hong Yan Sha, 红艳煞) is a traditional stem-to-branch marker associated with attraction. It is often mentioned alongside Peach Blossom, but their references differ: a stem for Hong Yan, usually a Year or Day Branch (the lower symbol in the birth-day column) group for Peach Blossom.
The Hong Yan mapping listed in Sanming Tonghui
Volume 3’s Peach Blossom and Red Romance entry supplies this mapping. This guide uses the Day Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-day column) and searches pillar branches. Jia and Yi share Wu 午; each remaining stem has its listed target.
Sha in the name is not a rating of character. A modern source that changes a target or searches only the Day Branch is using a different convention.
| Day Stem | Red Romance target |
|---|---|
| Jia | Wu 午 |
| Yi | Wu 午 |
| Bing | Yin |
| Ding | Wei |
| Wu 戊 | Zi |
| Ji | Chen |
| Geng | Xu |
| Xin | You |
| Ren | Si |
| Gui | Shen |
On a Jia-Zi day, do Hong Yan and Peach Blossom target the same branch?
Jia supplies a Hong Yan target of Wu 午. Zi belongs to Shen–Zi–Chen, so Day-Branch Peach Blossom targets You. A known fragment Zi, Wu and Yin without You matches Hong Yan but not Day-Branch Peach Blossom.
If You is also present, the two markers match different targets. Year-Branch (the lower symbol in the birth-year column) Peach Blossom can be checked separately with its reference stated. The names do not combine into a probability of romance.
How can attraction imagery be useful?
The image can prompt reflection on expression, social habits and how you come across, with experience deciding whether it fits. Communication, mutual willingness and boundaries tell you more about a relationship than marker counts.
Historical moral judgments about women should not be applied to people today. Hong Yan does not establish infidelity, orientation or sexual behavior. Clarify does not currently calculate it.
