Tian Yuan Zuo Lu: Day-Branch Authority, Examples and Lu Distinctions

Tian Yuan Zuo Lu reads authority relations in the Day Pillar (the two-symbol column for the birth day): Tian Yuan is the Day Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-day column), “sitting” points to the branch beneath it, and Lu here concerns office or authority. It is not necessarily the self’s Lu branch and does not mean inborn talent.

Why is this different from sitting on one’s own Lu?

For Geng-Wu 庚午, Wu contains Ding Direct Officer and Ji Direct Resource. It fits the passage’s Day-Branch authority discussion, while Geng’s own Lu is Shen, not Wu. Ren-Wu likewise contains Ji Officer, while Ren’s Lu is Hai.

The source list also contains days with Seven Killings (a traditional role associated with challenge, pressure and decisive action) in the branch. Its authority wording is broader than Direct Officer alone. Each example should retain its exact Ten God (one of ten traditional relationship labels defined relative to the birth-day element) rather than relabel all of them as Officer.

What do five source Day Pillars actually contain?

These five examples are selected from the source and recalculated with the common hidden-stem (an additional element symbol traditionally assigned inside a lower chart symbol) and Ten God rules. This is a verifiable example table, not an exhaustive eligibility list or a universal detector.

Source Day PillarTested hidden stemRole for Day MasterSelf’s own Lu
庚午丁Direct Officer申
壬午己Direct Officer亥
癸巳戊Direct Officer子
甲申庚Seven Killings寅
乙酉辛Seven Killings卯

Why does Geng-Wu still require the other pillars?

Ding Fire constrains Geng, Wood Wealth (the role family controlled by the birth-day element, often interpreted through resources and practical demands) can generate Ding and Earth Resource (the role family that supports the birth-day element, often interpreted through learning and support) can receive Fire and generate Geng. This explains the source’s attention to proportional self–Officer strength, Wealth support and Resource support.

Bing Killings changes the authority mixture, Gui Output (the role family produced by the birth-day element, often interpreted through expression and activity) can restrain Ding and Zi–Wu clash affects the Day Branch. Actual strength determines the effect. A seated Officer is not automatically a complete month-based Officer Pattern.

How should the Innate Gift alias be understood?

Innate Gift is an old catalog alias. Its English wording must not turn the source rule into intelligence, appearance or special ability. The explanation uses Tian Yuan Zuo Lu and Day-Branch authority to make the actual question clear.

Its value is distinguishing a local Day-Pillar configuration from a month pattern, and historical office-related Lu from a Lu-position table. It supplies no evidence of talent, ancestry or success.
