BAZI KNOWLEDGE BASE
Jia-Chen Xun Void: Yin and Mao (寅卯) — Ten Jiazi and Examples
The Jia-Chen xun contains ten Jiazi from 甲辰 through 癸丑. Its Void pair is Yin and Mao (寅卯). The ten stems are exhausted without assigning one to 寅 or 卯, so every complete Day Pillar (the two-symbol column for the birth day) in this xun returns those two branches.
Which ten Jiazi belong to the Jia-Chen xun?
The table advances one stem and one branch at a time until 癸丑. Find the complete reference Day Pillar here before reading 寅卯 Void. A lone 甲 stem or 辰 branch does not establish membership in this xun.
| Position | Complete Jiazi | Stem | Branch |
|---|---|---|---|
Why are Yin and Mao the omitted pair?
The Jia-Chen xun uses these ten branches: 辰, 巳, 午, 未, 申, 酉, 戌, 亥, 子, 丑. Removing them from the twelve-branch set leaves only 寅 and 卯. They are unassigned inside this block, not deleted from an actual chart.
Xun on this page means ten Jiazi pairs; when applied to days it is a ten-day block. It is not a ten-year Luck Pillar (a pair of symbols used to interpret a roughly ten-year period). Jia-Chen xun Void cannot be read as an empty decade ahead.
Example: how does Day 丙午 test 寅卯 Void?
丙午 is the third member of this xun. Record “Day 丙午 → Jia-Chen xun → 寅卯 Void,” then inspect actual Year, Month and Hour Branches. 寅 matches, 卯 matches, and 辰 is not part of this Void pair.
If the reference changes to 甲寅, use the Jia-Yin xun instead; its pair is 子丑. Do not retain 寅卯 and append the new pair as one combined result.
| Reference Jiazi | Tested branch | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 丙午 | 寅 | 寅 matches |
| 丙午 | 卯 | 卯 matches |
| 丙午 | 辰 | No match |
| 甲寅 | 子 丑 | Different xun: Jia-Yin |
What remains when Yin and Mao are marked Void?
No. 寅 contains 甲丙戊 and 卯 contains 乙, so actual Wood roots remain. Growth, learning and family support are real matters that cannot be declared absent from two Void branches. If 寅 or 卯 actually appears in the chart, retain its pillar position and direct relations beside the Void label.
| Void branch | Ordinary phase | Common hidden stems | Handling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 寅 | Wood | 甲 丙 戊 | Retain phase, hidden stems, roots and contacts |
| 卯 | Wood | 乙 | Retain phase, hidden stems, roots and contacts |
Does 寅卯 Void erase Wood roots, growth or learning ability?
No. 寅 contains 甲丙戊 and 卯 contains 乙, so actual Wood roots remain. Growth, learning and family support are real matters that cannot be declared absent from two Void branches. The Jia-Chen calculation establishes only the relative 寅卯 pair. It diagnoses no health condition, predicts no lifespan, erases no relative and guarantees no wealth result.
Filling, clash and combination can be checked under a named school, but they do not alter membership in 甲辰 through 癸丑. Every temporary relation needs its position and duration rather than a permanent-release claim.
