What Does Filling a Void Mean? A Jia-Zi Xun Example

Filling usually describes a Void branch appearing in another pillar, luck cycle or year, after which a named method treats it as more available. The baseline Void must be calculated first. Without a reference xun, there is nothing defined to fill.

Establish the Jia-Zi xun baseline first

The ten pairs run from 甲子 through 癸酉. All ten stems are used before branches 戌 and 亥 enter the sequence, so a 甲子 Day-Pillar (the two-symbol column for the birth day) reference returns 戌亥 Void. A later 戌 year does not move 甲子 into another xun.

What changes in a 戊戌 year?

The annual branch 戌 appears. A named method may mark 戌 as filled or more available during that year. The record needs the year's boundaries and source rule. Natal 戌亥 Void remains, and the appearance of 戌 does not simultaneously fill 亥.

Why do methods disagree about filling?

Some methods count any appearance; others require seasonal support, a root, repetition or a direct relation, and some distinguish natal from timing cases. State the adopted condition instead of turning appearance into universal cancellation.

Does filling mean a delayed matter will materialize?

No. It guarantees no payment, contract, relationship, pregnancy, recovery, hiring or investment result. Real matters still require people, documents, medical facts and financial evidence.
