Nayin vs. Ordinary Five Phases: Understand the Difference with 甲子

Nayin (a separate named element classification for a complete pair of chart symbols) phase classifies a complete Jiazi. Ordinary Five-Phase analysis reads the direct identities of stems, branches and hidden stems (the additional element symbols traditionally assigned inside each lower chart symbol). Both use Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, but they classify different units and participate in different analytical steps.

Why can 甲子 be Gold in the Sea and still contain Wood and Water?

As a complete pair, 甲子 maps to Gold in the Sea and its Nayin phase is Metal. In ordinary analysis, 甲 is Yang Wood, 子 is a Water branch and 子 contains hidden 癸 Water. All are true because they belong to different fields.

Adding Gold in the Sea to Metal strength turns a pair label into a fictional extra symbol. Calling 甲子 only a Metal life can also hide the role of a Jia-Wood Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference) or Zi-Water branch in direct structure.

Why can Nayin not supply strength or a Useful God?

Strength uses Month Command, visible stems, roots, hidden stems, production and control, combinations, clashes and whole-chart conditions. Nayin adds no new Metal that can be visible, hidden or seasonally commanded, so it cannot repair an elemental percentage.

A Useful God (the element or role assigned a key function by a particular interpretation method) is a functional judgment inside a declared framework and depends on primary structure. Choosing colors, directions, industries or objects from a Nayin name does not create a demonstrated real-world remedy.

When may the two phase systems be discussed together?

Calculate each system independently and state the purpose. In a historical year-life comparison, write that Year 甲子 has Metal Nayin. When discussing the same chart’s Day Master, retain the actual Day Stem (the upper symbol in the birth-day column) and Month Command. Side-by-side reporting explains two systems; it does not average them.

How should a clear report display the distinction?

Give Nayin a separate field with pillar, complete Jiazi, name, Nayin phase and source. Keep stems, branches, hidden stems and structure in the ordinary chart fields. Every conclusion should identify which field supports it.
