Peach Blossom in BaZi: lookup table, Year and Day Branches, and relationships
Peach Blossom in BaZi commonly means Xianchi, a branch marker found from the group containing a Year or Day Branch (the lower symbol in the birth-day column). Everyday talk of Peach Blossom luck often means romance, but a chart match does not establish a relationship. Identify the branch first, then distinguish historical imagery from modern usage and someone’s actual experience.
How does the four-group lookup work?
The reference branch needs to be any one member of the left-hand group; all three need not occur in the chart. Then find the target in an actual pillar. Clarify’s existing lookup checks both Year and Day references against the four natal branches. Two references producing the same target are not two independent confirmations.
| Year or Day Branch belongs to | Peach Blossom target |
|---|---|
| Shen, Zi or Chen | You |
| Yin, Wu or Xu | Mao |
| Si, You or Chou | Wu |
| Hai, Mao or Wei | Zi |
Why do a Zi Year Branch and Wu Day Branch give two targets?
This is a lookup illustration, not someone’s complete birth data. Zi belongs to Shen–Zi–Chen and gives You; Wu belongs to Yin–Wu–Xu and gives Mao. A You Month Branch (the lower symbol in the birth-month column) is a match from the Year reference. Without Mao among the branches, the Day reference has not matched Mao.
With an unknown birth hour, check the known branches without claiming absence from all four. You contains Xin, but a visible Xin stem cannot replace You as a Peach Blossom match: the target is a branch.
Why Xianchi, and why the association with attraction?
Sanming Tonghui connects Xianchi with the Five-Phase Bathing stage and gives these four groups. The passage also contains historical moral judgments about sexuality and women. Those judgments are not a basis for assessing a person today; this guide retains the name and lookup history, not the character verdicts.
Modern readings often use Peach Blossom as imagery for presentation, attention and social interaction. Showing work, joining a team activity or meeting friends can bring that vocabulary to mind. The lookup does not establish that any of those events occurred, nor does it score appearance, charm or fidelity.
How do placement and annual Peach Blossom differ?
A You Month Branch can be found from a Year reference or a Day reference. The placement may be the same while the calculation reference differs. A report should distinguish where the lookup starts from where the target occurs. Month or Hour placement does not establish romantic experiences inside or outside a household.
If You is absent at birth and an annual You is compared later, that year supplies the target. It does not rewrite the natal chart (the chart calculated for the birth moment). Actual social opportunities depend on circumstances and choices; a symbol cannot express another person’s attraction or consent.
