Ziping Zhenquan: Month Command, Useful God, Assistants and Rescue
Ziping Zhenquan is a Qing-period Ziping text commonly attributed to Shen Xiaozhan. It organizes pattern analysis around the month’s relation to the Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference), then examines change, interference and remedy. Its useful contribution is a reading with an identifiable line of reasoning, rather than a list of pattern names.
Which chapters reveal its line of reasoning?
Editions may divide or title passages differently. Follow the questions below rather than treat a particular chapter count as the book’s defining feature.
| Chapter topic | Question it addresses |
|---|---|
| Useful God | What leads from the month/self relationship |
| Changes and mixed qi | How exposure or branch groups affect selection |
| Formation, failure and rescue | What helps or obstructs the selected route |
| Assistants and pattern quality | Whether crucial cooperation is effective and complete |
| Timing and pattern changes | How later conditions participate |
Why does Jia in You begin with Xin Officer?
You hides Xin, which controls Jia with opposite polarity and is therefore Officer. Starting from that month relation leads to questions about Wealth, Resource and Output elsewhere; it does not prove every Jia-in-You chart has a favorable Officer Pattern.
If needed Xin is effectively restrained by Ding Hurting Officer (a traditional role associated with independent expression and questioning rules), Water Resource’s ability to restrain Ding and nourish Jia becomes relevant. Month priority does not make the other pillars unimportant.
Why might Officer be called Useful God instead of Water Resource?
In this vocabulary, Useful God often refers first to the selected month role, while a crucial assisting influence is Xiang Shen. With Wealth assisting Officer, Officer leads and Wealth assists; a Wealth-centered route generating Officer reverses that emphasis.
A modern article may call the protective or corrective Resource the Useful God directly. Align definitions before assuming different labels mean opposite understandings of the elemental relations.
Does month priority mean always selecting only primary qi?
No. Its changes and mixed-qi chapters discuss other exposed hidden stems (the additional element symbols traditionally assigned inside each lower chart symbol), multiple candidates and branch groups. Jian Lu and month Rob Wealth (a traditional role associated with shared resources, cooperation and competition) also receive separate treatment rather than a mechanical ordinary-role label.
The text also discusses seasonal conditions and timing. A readable conclusion identifies the adopted passage, reasons for changing a candidate and unresolved conditions.
Must I accept historical status rankings to learn from it?
No. Cooperation, strength, formation and rescue can be read as questions about relations, capacity and addressed problems, while status judgments remain in their historical context.
The text helps assess whether a pattern report explains itself. A pattern name cannot determine human value, future occupation or wealth. Base text and later commentary should also retain separate attribution.
