Salary, business income and windfalls in BaZi: reading Wealth Stars
Salary, business income and unexpected receipts often appear in discussions of BaZi Wealth. Direct Wealth is commonly compared with regular income and Indirect Wealth with opportunity, but their actual distinction is polarity relative to the Day Master. A salaried worker may have Indirect Wealth, and a founder may have Direct Wealth. Neither star identifies where a payment comes from, its size or when it arrives.
Start with the relationship behind the labels
Jia controls Earth. Ji has opposite polarity and is Direct Wealth; Wu shares Yang polarity and is Indirect Wealth. For Yi, Wu becomes Direct Wealth and Ji Indirect Wealth. The same Wu cannot be a fixed kind of salary or windfall transaction.
Regularity and opportunity can explain the imagery, but do not classify income. A modern role may involve fixed pay, a variable bonus and reimbursement, each understood through its actual terms.
What does a salary comparison include?
A salary comes from a particular work arrangement. Duties, hours, pay components and payment conditions explain what it involves; a Wealth Star contains none of those terms. Officers may introduce responsibilities, Resource (the role family that supports the birth-day element, often interpreted through learning and support) training and Output (the role family produced by the birth-day element, often interpreted through expression and activity) deliverables, but these remain discussion themes.
Two roles may show the same monthly pay while one has fixed hours and the other includes on-call work and a variable bonus. They are different arrangements. Their descriptions answer more specific questions than a shared label of Direct Wealth work.
Why is business revenue different from money earned?
Imagine a small making studio. An inquiry, confirmed order, completed item and received payment are four different developments. Interest is not an order, and the order value is not profit after materials and other expenses.
A Ten-God discussion might connect Output with making and expression, Wealth with exchange and use, and Officers, Resource and Companions with requirements, support and cooperation. Demand, costs and delivery still need actual business evidence.
| Figure or development | What it does not yet establish |
|---|---|
| Order value | Whether delivery and payment have occurred |
| Money received | Which portion is income, a refund or repayment of an advance |
| Higher revenue | Profit after changing expenses |
| Ownership of an asset | Cash currently available |
Why is Indirect Wealth not a lottery or windfall signal?
Not received every month describes frequency. A bonus, gift, refund, asset sale and prize have different origins and conditions. A refund may simply return money previously paid rather than create new wealth.
Indirect Wealth does not cause those events or establish entitlement to money. When a report says windfall year, distinguish the appearance of Indirect Wealth from a promised event. The label cannot establish the latter.
Can a Wealth period choose an investment date?
A Wealth period cannot establish investment returns or suitability. It names stems and branches relative to a Day Master; it contains no product price, fees, issuer facts or future market information. The same year can have different Wealth labels for Jia and Yi without assigning them separate market returns.
Suppose a report says Wealth appears this year while a proposed investment has not explained its fees or use of funds. The chart statement cannot fill that information gap or justify a purchase, borrowing or leverage. Financial decisions need current information about the actual matter and appropriate professional advice.
