How do you find the Father Star in BaZi? A lookup for every Day Master
A common BaZi convention uses Indirect Wealth as the Father Star. Start with your Day Stem and find the stem it controls with matching yin–yang polarity. The name comes from traditional family-role reasoning. It describes a chart role, not your father’s wealth, and its frequency cannot determine your relationship with him.
Use your Day Master, not your father’s zodiac sign
This lookup uses Indirect Wealth as father: yang maps to yang and yin to yin. If a report uses Wealth (the role family controlled by the birth-day element, often interpreted through resources and practical demands) generally or a different polarity convention, identify the difference before comparing results.

Why does Jia Wood use Wu Earth?
Jia controls Earth. Jia and Wu are both yang, making Wu Indirect Wealth and Ji Direct Wealth. Ziping Zhenquan also derives the father through the mother symbol: Jia’s Direct Resource is Gui, whose Direct Officer is Wu.
For Yi Wood, the matching-polarity controlled stem is Ji Earth. Yi’s Direct Resource is Ren, and Ji is Ren’s Direct Officer. The father symbol changes with the chart owner’s Day Master (the birth-day element used as the chart’s reference); it is not one fixed element for everyone.
How does a strong Father Star differ from actual help?
Strength means the Wealth role has support and can participate in the chart. Whether its function helps the arrangement depends on the Day Master, season and other roles. Strong Wealth establishes neither an affluent father nor emotional closeness.
Modern family interpretation may discuss resources, responsibility and independence—for example, wanting support while retaining personal choice. That explains a theme. Whether a father offers help and on what terms comes from the actual arrangement.
How can the father theme support a useful conversation?
Make “will my father help?” specific: do you want advice, time, resources or room to decide? What has actually been agreed, and what can you take responsibility for? This is clearer than asking whether father affinity is good.
When the relationship is difficult, describe actions and your experience instead of using Wealth strength to guess motives. A timing contact also calls for checking what, if anything, is changing in real family arrangements.
