BAZI KNOWLEDGE BASE

BaZi chart fields explained: stems, hidden stems, Ten Gods and Nayin

A BaZi display may have many rows, but the Four Pillars are the four stem–branch pairs. Hidden stems, Ten Gods, Nayin, life stages and stars annotate those symbols using different rules. Decade and annual cycles add time layers. Identifying a field’s source is easier than memorizing every unfamiliar label at once.

Are Ten Gods beneath hidden stems counted twice?

Yin branch, for example, usually contains Jia, Bing and Wu. Relative to a Jia Day Master these can be labeled Friend, Eating God (a traditional role associated with creativity, expression and enjoyment) and Indirect Wealth (a traditional role associated with opportunities, exchange and wider connections). The labels express the hidden stems’ relationships; they do not create three new branches.

For an element graph, check whether hidden stems are included and how they are weighted. Visible stems, hidden stems and Ten God labels are not three independent piles of element votes.

Why can one position have several element names?

In Jia Zi, Jia is Wood, Zi’s main element is Water and the pair’s Nayin is Metal in the Sea. The answers use different classifications and are not required to agree.

Likewise, Indirect Wealth, Growth and Traveling Horse can annotate one position from different perspectives. More labels do not automatically mean more strength, and their literal names do not combine into a guaranteed event.

How should I read blanks, percentages and colors?

A blank may indicate an unknown hour, an inapplicable label or an omitted feature. Colors usually distinguish elements; percentages need a stated counting method. Neither directly establishes favorable or unfavorable roles.

After identifying the day stem, month branch (the lower symbol in the birth-month column) and birth-time status, look up the one or two terms relevant to your question. You can understand the main explanation before mastering every annotation.
