Fate Stars in luck cycles and annual pillars: layered timing examples

Natal, ten-year luck and annual Fate-Star records draw symbols from different time layers. A later target can form a temporary lookup or contact the natal chart (the chart calculated for the birth moment), but cannot be rewritten as present at birth or used by name alone to forecast an event.

Keep natal, luck and annual layers separate

Natal pillars belong to the birth calculation, a Luck Pillar (a pair of symbols used to interpret a roughly ten-year period) to its defined interval, and an Annual Pillar to that sexagenary year. Record which layer supplies anchor and target and whether the adopted rule permits cross-layer use.

Not every natal Fate-Star rule automatically extends to luck or annual pillars. Do not invent a timing method when the source does not state one.

Natal Shen and Day Zi in an Yin year

With Day Zi as the Traveling Horse anchor, Shen–Zi–Chen targets Yin. If natal Yin is absent, there is no natal match. In an Yin year, a temporary Day-Zi-to-annual-Yin result can be recorded only if the chosen method permits annual targets.

If natal Year Shen is also an anchor, annual Yin has two provenance paths but remains one annual carrier. Remove that annual-layer record when the year ends; the natal chart remains unchanged.

Why luck, Li Chun and time-zone boundaries matter

Luck transitions depend on the adopted start-age method. Annual systems using Li Chun (the Start of Spring calendar marker used as the year boundary in many BaZi methods), lunar new year or another boundary can differ near transition dates. Show the rule, place and time zone rather than only a civil year.

Retain both scenarios when a boundary remains unresolved. Later events cannot be used to choose the preferred boundary retroactively.

A timing marker is not an event switch

Horse does not guarantee relocation, Peach Blossom romance, Robbery loss or Nobleman help. The timing layer answers when a version matches; events still depend on structure, action, environment and evidence.

Use a match as a bounded observation question, not a promised date.
